After losing our beloved dogs less than a year apart, the house became too quiet. We concluded my wife would be more comfortable with a dog capable of being a companion and family protector. We weren’t new to dogs, but Rocko was our first German Shepherd. He’s an all-black GSD with a Czech working lineage. He came into our family at eight weeks old with a mouthful of razor blades. I now fully appreciate the “Land Shark” moniker a German Shepherd puppy gets. Having done my due diligence on the breed, followed various trainers, and watched hours of training videos, I was confident I could successfully train Rocko in basic obedience. But that’s like saying I could follow a couple of tennis pros on Youtube and be on my way to Wimbledon. Although Rocko was progressing, I realized I didn’t know what I didn’t know. And I didn’t want to hold him back because of my lack of training experience. I felt like I had a Formula One car on my hands, and all I’d ever driven was a Hyundai. We needed professional help. But where? While scrolling through a German Shepherd Facebook group, I found a rave review for Chad Landry at Patriot Canine Services. The poster said her dog returned from board and train as a new dog. She added the experience was well worth the investment of time and money. When I found out Chad operated out of Ruskin, FL, about an hour from us, I knew finding him was not by chance. He had an opening to join his next board and train session the following weekend. We dropped him off to begin his month of boot camp. It was hard to see him off, but I knew it was a small slice of an entire life ahead. Chad kept us updated on Rocko’s progress with numerous texts and videos. Four weeks later, Chad brought him back home. He showed us Rocko’s new capabilities and what our next steps should be to keep up his training. We were impressed. Chad offers a follow-up visit after the return drop-off. Two weeks later, he returned to the house to see how Rocko was doing. We worked on some new things that applied to our household situation. Chad is professional, personable, and passionate about what he does. When you have questions, he welcomes texts or calls. If you’re looking for a professional trainer, you’ll be pleased with the results from Chad Landry and Patriot Canine Services.
We are exceptionally grateful for Chad’s help. This is a bit long, and I could go on and on with our praises for Chad at Patriot Canine Services, but here are some things that make Chad awesome (in no particular order) and I hope will help others in search of a trainer. 1) While it seems that Chad prefers training big dogs, he loves small dogs as much as he loves big dogs. 2) Chad is flexible and he adapted the training plan to meet our priorities and goals. While he does a lot of board and train, we opted for sessions in our home (and sometimes at his place) and then eventually added a one week board and train. We were able to schedule these on extremely short notice as soon as we and our Frenchie had mastered everything from the prior session. 3) Chad is exceptionally generous with his time. For every at home session we had, Chad spent at least equivalent time, if not more, answering our follow-up questions and giving advice. He is always quick to respond. He was always happy to stop back for a brief visit if we were struggling with something. 4) Chad’s commitment to the success of our dog has not ended even though we have completed our training contract. The transformation we witnessed in less than 2 months was remarkable but we have ongoing work to do and feel well equipped to do so. While we have relocated for the summer, Chad remains invested in our dog’s success. When we have a new challenge and need some advice or reassurance, he is still quick to respond to texts and emails and this has had a huge impact on our success. 5) Chad does remarkable volunteer work training rescue dogs and service dogs, so supporting his business also supports the training of other dogs in need. We highly recommend Chad and I know our Frenchie does too!
Patriot Canine Services is amazing! He has helped our rescue in so many ways. The dogs he has taken from us turned around in no time. We gave him the tough ones that would not have had a chance at being adopted but once he performed his magic they were in homes in no time. I would recommend him for any of your training needs. Thank you Chad!
I cannot say enough positive things about Chad with Patriot Canine Services! We have brought many dogs (challenges) to him that were rescued and facing the ultimate consequence of euthanasia do to behavior issues. Each of these dogs had a different story and a different circumstance. The things that were the same for each of them was their lack of connection, confidence, self control, consistent direction and structure. Each of these dogs needed to learn something different to succeed in their environment. Chad was able to work with them and figure out the best techniques to reach and approach them. Helping them become a better version of themselves, as well as helping them to become successful and properly connect with their families. He not only worked with the dog, he also got to know what their life and home were going to be like. This helps the dog succeed WITH their family. Which is sooo important. He gives each dog AND their families the skills and confidence to succeed in their home environment with continued consistent, effort and care! He works directly with you, your family and the dog, to help meet specific conditional needs and will teach you how to continue to be successful WITH your dog in your home.
Chad Landry is extremely knowledgeable about training dogs. He can correct undesirable behavior and get them going in a direction that is more suitable for both the dog and owner. He takes into account the dog's environment, personality and also the owner. I would highly recommend his company and services.
My rescue dog, Deja, was overwhelming. She would bark at everything and everyone, lunge, snap and growl. I couldn’t take her for a walk without worrying I would hurt one of my neighbors, or myself. I was so frustrated!! Then came Patriot Canine Services. Chad trained Deja to harness her energy in positive ways. Equally important, he worked with ME to build my knowledge base so we could continue the training long after her board and train was over. Thank you, Chad!
Highly recommend Chad. He got a call about a dog at Pasco county animal control that was scheduled for euthanasia that afternoon. (After several surgeries and 3 months in their care, she had become aggressive when personnel approached her kennel.) He dropped everything and picked her up, then brought her to his place. He not only saved her life, he taught her basic obedience and how to trust humans again. She is one of the happiest dogs I’ve had, and at 68 years old, I’ve had many! Marcy Darcy and I highly recommend Chad.
Chad trained my 5 year old rescue pitbull when no one else would. He helped with all basic obedience, walking on and off leash and most importantly helped with dog aggression. He helped me understand my dog's triggers and warning signs when around other dogs. I was able to stay at the lovely, fully furnished, facilities on site when picking up my dog where Chad set aside a whole day to teach me everything he taught my dog and how to continue his training on my own. Chad took amazing care of my dog and trained him to a point I never thought he would get to, all while still being the goofy character he is. Chad sent me weekly updates with photos and videos on my dog and even let me video chat him while I was away! I HIGHLY recommend Patriot Canine Services to anyone and for all training needs!
We cannot say enough good things about our experience with Patriot Canine Services. Several months ago our dog, Mando, attended the month long board and train program. The owner, Chad, met with us for an in house consultation and initial evaluation of Mando. Mando is a 115lb Boerboel and he was obnoxious during the initial visit! Chad on the other hand was calm and was reassuring to us that Mando would come back with very different behavior. During the month Chad had Mando, we received regular updates about Mando’s progress and pictures to help keep us connected. Chad was great and he was right about Mando coming back differently. Our reunification with Mando went well. Chad spent time with us making sure we understood what he had been working on with Mando and how we should properly reinforce what Mando had learned. Since Mando has been home he has been a very different dog. He is now much more a part of our family and enjoyable to be with. Chad did not stop communication with us after Mando came back home. He has made himself available to us when there has been the need. We have referred several friends and family members to Patriot Canine Services. We had not doubt they would receive the same professionalism, the same expert training, and the same care for their dog as we experienced. If you are looking for a safe place to send your dog and to get proven great results give Patriot Canine Services a call and let Chad do the rest.
