Our Trainer Chad’s love for Dog Training started at age 15, thanks to his grandfather .His German Shepherd Bear started training with the help of a professional obedience trainer. Through this Chad met a number of canine handlers who gave him the opportunity to participate in their training scenarios.
Chad’s passion for working with dogs landed him a volunteer position with the County Sherriff’s office for 4 years. In his career, Chad began working with the K-9 teams at training and eventually earning a position as a K9 handler at Lake Wales Police Department. After being assigned 8-month-old Police K-9 Dog “Badge” a Belgian Malinois, Chad went on to great success on the streets, and even greater success in competition.
While he was watching handlers and trainers around him struggle and train through conflict, Chad was enjoying fun, positively charged training sessions. Even as a young handler, he'd swell with pride when a veteran handler came to him and said, "How'd you do that". His dedication to understanding how to clearly communicate with his dog Badge paid off in the annual certifications through the United States Police Canine Association. It was during this time in his career that Chad & Badge competed in multiple USPCA competitions where they consistently placed “Best Dog in Obedience and apprehension scores”. A dog at the pinnacle of drive and obedience. His greatest recognitions were for placing first in the State of Florida in 2015 and 2019, and second in the Nation in 2015.
All this led to him using his knowledge and experience to provide behavior solutions for families who would have otherwise possibly given up their dog. And as such, Patriot Canine Services was born!
